Sole Treadmill Review

This Sole treadmill review was designed to give you an overview of the Sole treadmill products, their pros and cons, and some comparison tools to help you make the right decision that’s best for you. Buying a treadmill is an individual decision and there are many considerations that you should evaluate based on what factors are important to you.

Before we dissect and compare the differences of products in this Sole treadmill review, it’s worth noting some of the similarities that most of the Sole treadmills share:

Common Features of Sole Treadmills

  • Cushion Flex Decks
Sole’s treadmills all come with their a cushion flex deck which is a low impact design that reduces the stresses and injuries that can occur to ankles, knees, hips, and back due to the pounding movements of running. Sole claims that their patented deck can reduce these stresses by more than 350%.
  • Easy Assist Folding Frame
Sole treadmills with an “F” prefix, have a unique feature which allows users to fold the treadmill up vertically for convenient storage and the deck can be lowered almost effortlessly with the assist mechanism. It’s rare to find this type of folding feature on high-end treadmills…it’s a nice feature to have for those of us that have limited floor space ;-)
  • Top of the Line Motors
All of Sole’s treadmills have ample power for performance. Another nice feature is their substantial flywheel which allows for smooth transition speed and reduced vibration. All of the Sole treadmill motors come with a 10 year warranty…which is a lot more than those in comparable price ranges!
  • Sturdy Frame
All of Sole treadmills have an epoxy coated paint that is baked on for an extremely durable finish. Sole is so confident in their frame strength and durability that they provided a Lifetime Warranty for the frame.
  • Whisper Deck
This feature comes with all of the treadmills below, except the F63. Sole treadmills have an extremely quiet deck that also comes with a Lifetime Warranty. As a board member of our local gym, I’m painfully aware of the high cost & frequency of treadmill deck replacements ($500+)…so please don’t underestimate the value of a Lifetime Deck Warranty. It’s a great insurance option to have.

This Sole treadmill review below will focus on the features of 7 different models that include folding and non-folding treadmills, each concluding with an overall summary of features, comparison and recommendation:

Sole Treadmill Review - S77

Sole Treadmill S77

The S77 has the power of a gym-caliber treadmill for a fraction of the cost. It also has a nice long running tread for plenty of room to run. Here are the treadmill facts on the S77:

  • Motor: 3.5 HP Continuous Duty
  • Max. Speed 12 MPH
  • Max. Incline 15%
  • User Capacity: 400 lbs

Sole Treadmill Review – F63

Sole Treadmill F63

The F63 has a lot of nice features for a reasonable price and seems to be well-suited for the recreational fitness walker / runner. Here are the treadmill facts on the F63:

  • Motor: 2.5 HP Continuous Duty
  • Max. Speed 10 MPH
  • Max. Incline 15%
  • User Capacity: 325 lbs
  • Heart Rate Control: No – Comes with Pulse Handgrips
  • Running Surface: 20 in. x 55 in.
  • Warranty: Motor, 20 years -- Deck, 3 years -- Frame, Lifetime -- Electronics / Belt / Rollers, 3 years - Labor, 1 year.
  • Price Range (Sale – MSRP): $1,099 - $1,899

Conclusion: The F63 is a good overall buy, and the least expensive of the non-folding Sole treadmills. While it has plenty of power, the F63’s top speed of 10 MPH may deter runners that want to do intervals at a sub-6 pace. And its lack of heart rate control programs limits some of its potential training use.

Sole Treadmill Review – F80

SOle Treadmill F80

The F80 is a solid performing treadmill with some good upgrades from the F63. Here are the treadmill facts on the F80:

  • Price Range (Sale – MSRP): $1,499 - $1,999

Conclusion: Compared to the F63, the F80 has increased the max speed, HR control programs, and a nicer warranty package. It’s a nice deal for the price, but the F83 (below) seems to offer the most “bang for the buck” in the non-folding category.
